This shape is that of one of the original “wine-optimized” glasses designed by Claus J. Riedel, a ninth-generation member of the family. The glass’s generous size allows the bouquet to fully express itself and smooths out any harsh edges. It emphasizes the fruitiness while reducing the bitterness of the tannins, resulting in perfectly balanced wines. This product features a black crystal stem and a clear crystal base. The Sommeliers Black Tie collection was launched in 2008 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sommeliers, Riedel’s iconic collection designed by Claus Riedel. A warranty of functionality and aesthetic elegance, the handcrafted Sommeliers Black Tie collection celebrates this anniversary with a “formal” touch. The red wine glasses feature a tall black stem and a clear base, while the white wine glasses have a black base with a tall clear stem. This product is handmade.
Our master glassmakers handcraft every single item, ensuring that each piece possesses a unique character. Due to the nature of the manufacturing process, there may be slight variations in the dimensions and weight of each item, as well as air bubbles, imperfections, or minor variations on the surface.
This item is dishwasher safe.
The package contains one piece.
- – All RIEDEL glasses and glasses are dishwasher safe. RIEDEL recommends MIELE exclusively.
- – Place glasses and glasses well away from other glass or metal products to prevent them from chipping during the wash cycle. Where possible, use the basket provided.
- – To avoid the formation of fogging, check the hardness of the water which should be low in mineral salts.
- – Remove any traces of fingerprints or stains with white vinegar.
In case of hand washing
- – Wash the glass under hot water (use a detergent and rinse the glass thoroughly).
- – Polishing the glass: Use two polishing cloths, never hold the glass by the base to polish the glass.
- – Polish the glasses using two glass dryers: one for each hand. When polishing the cup, avoid holding the glass by the base because the stem could break.
- – Stem breakage: This occurs due to incorrect handling = bending torque or pressure on the stem.
- – When storing glasses, places characterized by strong smells should be avoided as they could transfer to the glass and alter the aroma of wine.
Polishing Towel
- – Wash the tumble dryers in boiling water with mild soap to eliminate bacteria.
- – Never use a fabric softener to rinse the microfiber cloth (avoid the formation of grease on the surface).
