Created in 1948 by the genius of Fulvio Bianconi and Paolo Venini, the Fazzoletto is one of the most famous, imitated, and admired works in the history of art glass. The magic of the Fazzoletto lies in its manufacturing technique, the “flying hand” method: the master glassblower, with a fluid gesture and a swift movement guided by centrifugal force, shapes the molten glass, creating soft, sinuous, and seemingly random folds that mimic the lightness of an upside-down cloth handkerchief. Each individual piece, by its very nature, is unique and one-of-a-kind: no two Fazzoletto vases in the world will ever be identical.
This particular version combines warm, enveloping elegance with an opaque white glass invented in Murano in the 15th century to imitate Chinese porcelain. The layering of the two surfaces (the “incamiciato” technique) creates extraordinary chromatic depth, where the golden sheen of the outer Ambra is enhanced and brought to life by the pure, milky white core within.
